A Sailing Vacation in Jamaica

Jamaica, easily the most popular, is one of the islands of the West Indies. The island is full of exotic food, wonderful music and, of course, rum. What would a description of Jamaica be without a word about the beaches? Jamaica is home to some of the world\'s most gorgeous beaches.

When you are planning a fun and adventurous vacation, a Jamaica sailing cruise just can\'t be beat. As far as water sports go, Jamaica is an ideal spot. There is sailing, parasailing, windsurfing and scuba diving for your enjoyment on Jamaica. Or you could just stretch out and enjoy the warm sun and 80 degree water.

The major beaches are in Negril, Ocho Rios and Montego Bay. There you will find picture perfect weather and plenty of sailing adventure. The tourist season generally runs from January to March as people flock to Jamaica to get away from the cold climates in other parts of the world. Keep this in mind when you are planning your Jamaica sailing cruise vacation. From July to November is a particularly bad time to plan a vacation in Jamaica. It\'s the cyclone season and you will experience the summer rains during those months.

When you come to Jamaica for a sailing vacation you must let customs know about your arrival and when you plan to leave. Customs officials will inspect your boat and have you fill out some paperwork that includes a list of your passengers, registration information for your boat, a departure permission form and an inventory of the boats stores.

Many people come to Jamaica with their own boat, but others prefer to rent a boat while there. You can rent a sailboat for a period of a week or ten days. You can fly into Jamaica in Montego Bay and start your Jamaica sailing vacation from there.

A noteworthy beach near Montego Bay is Doctor\'s Cave Beach. It has an interesting past for the history buff. At one time the water was thought to have curative powers. A group of doctors came to this beautiful location to bathe in the warm waters. This is how it got its name.

When renting a sailboat in Jamaica you have a variety of choices available. You can choose to rent a skippered bareboat, a bareboat, or a crewed charter. Whichever you are able to choose you won\'t regret you choice of a Jamaica sailing vacation. Jamaica offers some fabulous spots to explore while you sail the clear blue waters.
